MARSHWOOD HIGH SCHOOL, SAD 35, South Berwick, Maine

Creating a nurturing educational community and integrating state-of-the-art technologies were inspirations for the design of this 190,000 SF rural high school.  Ten “neighborhoods,” comprised of up to six classrooms clustered around a technology center, are connected by a two-level pedestrian street, enlivened with a timeline illustrating the community’s 350-year heritage. The centrally-located library and 800-seat auditorium are available for community use day and night, without disrupting or compromising security for the academic centers.
